Kay Kenyon

Kay Kenyon is the author of over a dozen science fiction and fantasy novels. Her latest works comprise the "Dark Talents" trilogy, with At the Table of Wolves, Serpent in the Heather and Nest of the Monarch. Her science fiction books include The Entire and The Rose quartet (soon to come in a new edition!), Maximum Ice, and The Seeds of Time. Her other fantasy novels are A Thousand Perfect Things and Queen of the Deep.

A USA Today Bestselling Author, Kim writes both novels and screenplays and is a big fan of having a diverse portfolio. Writing Christmas Romance features, Ghostly Thrillers, and everything in between, Kim is a SOLD and OPTIONED screenwriter with many awards in her arsenal, including winning the Bigfoot Script Challenge, Los Angeles Film Awards and Burbank International Film Festival. Laura Barber

Young Author's Day speaker, Laura Barber, is an author of both women's fiction and memoir. She loves chick lit, especially Bridget Jones's Diary, which she re-reads about once a year. She is currently working on a women's fiction novel. She has published an assortment of freelance articles, columns, and poems for various publications in Missouri, Colorado, and Washington. She has presented sessions on writing at the 2016 and 2019 Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) conferences. She is a member of the Pacific Northwest Writers Association and Women's Fiction Writers Association, and she has been a reader for the Pacific Northwest Writers Association Mainstream Literary Contest for the last four years. She teaches high school English at Annie Wright Schools, an all-girls’ day and boarding school in Tacoma, Washington, where she leads the after-school creative writing group Annie Writers. Laura double-majored in English (with an emphasis in creative writing) and art history at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she also earned a Master's of Education in Secondary English Curriculum and Instruction as well as certification. Kellie Doherty

Kellie Doherty is a science fiction and fantasy author who lives in Eagle River, Alaska. She’s also a freelance editor, specializing in proofreading, copy editing, and developmental editing in fiction and nonfiction. When she noticed that there wasn’t much positive queer representation in the science fiction and fantasy realms, she decided to create her own! Kellie’s work has been published in Image OutWrite 2019, Astral Waters Review, Life (as it) Happens, and Impact, among others. Her adult sci-fi debut novel—Finding Hekate—came out in April 2016 and the sequel—Losing Hold—came out in April 2017. She's currently working on a five-book adult fantasy series. The first book Sunkissed Feathers & Severed Ties released in March 2019 and won a 2019 Rainbow Award. The second Curling Vines & Crimson Trades is in the editing process and will hopefully launch later this year! An excerpt from Curling Vines won an Alaska Writers Guild Fiction contest in 2020.

Kristin completed the University of Washington Screenwriting Certificate Program in 2017. Since then, she has had scripts advance in both the Austin Film Festival and Final Draft screenwriting competitions. She currently serves as the President and Events Chair for the Northwest Screenwriters Guild, helping to foster the growing link between Hollywood and the screenwriting community in the Pacific Northwest. In her free time, Kristin is often hiking through the trails of Washington or cheering on the Seahawks and the UW Huskies.

Young Author's Day Speaker, Kiana Davis, is an author, poetic-storyteller, and educator. She began writing poetry at the age of 12 to help cope with growing up in poverty. Kiana believes poetry builds bridges, and she teaches poetry workshops to help communities and organizations tackle tough conversations about equity and social justice, poverty, and identity.

Upon retiring from a 43-year military/local government career, Larry took up writing. He joined Mystery Writers of America, eventually was selected to serve on the local Northwest Chapter board. Two of his submissions to the PNWA’s annual literary contest have been finalists.
